Collaboration in technology imperative for success

egularly going out and about is unlikely to happen anytime soon, as a coronavirus vaccine has yet to be developed and social restrictions must be prolonged. Most people, however, are now accustomed to carrying out their day-to-day activities within the confines of their homes, while many companies have decided to continue with their work-from-home policies indefinitely.

Consumption trends can be seen in people’s daily activities in which they prioritize and or limit their spending on staples.

For those with more resources, however, spending can be directed toward the products that help them work, do house chores, maintain wellness and get entertainment at home. And this has led to the rising demand of innovative products with advanced technology.

One of the world’s biggest tech companies, Samsung, unveiled its newest devices on Wednesday, understanding the world’s dependence on technology, which is higher than ever.

TM Roh, president and head of mobile communications business of Samsung Electronics, said in a statement that he considers this new era the “next normal” and technology – especially mobile technology – has a critical role in it, as distance learning, at-home fitness and online concerts, among other fields, have been enabled by mobile technology.

“As leaders of the tech industry, we have a special responsibility – and now a true sense of urgency – to help society continue to move forward. So many people are counting on us to give them new ways to communicate, new ways to work and new ways to connect,” said Roh.

Samsung’s recent product line launch, dubbed “Galaxy Unpacked”, saw the birth of several new power devices, including the Galaxy Note20 Series and Galaxy Z Fold2 smartphones, Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab 7+, Galaxy Watch3 and Galaxy Buds Live.

Positioning itself as a high-end flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note20 Series aims to become a powerhouse that enables its users to enhance productivity at work, especially with the partnership with Microsoft that users of Galaxy Note20 and Windows PC will appreciate.

Using the new S Pen that comes with the Note20, users can write ideas or draw sketches on their phone screens. And with the phone being integrated with Microsoft Office, turning the writings or drawings into PowerPoint can be easily done.

Users will then be able to keep and share their works across smartphones, tablets and PCs with the autosave and sync features, not to mention editing, adding notes and giving highlights to shared PDF and PowerPoint presentations.

This is only a small example of the collaboration as the two companies are preparing for further integration, with new services such as OneNote, to be available later this year, for strengthening the alignment of productivity ecosystems across devices.

The partnership between Samsung and Microsoft reflects how the two companies appreciate the power of collaboration through a vast partner network.

Roh said that the past few months have proved that the power of the group is stronger than going at it alone.

“The stories of so many people coming together to help each other are incredibly uplifting, and [they] demonstrate that the whole is always greater than the sum of its parts,” he said.
