What is the state of environmental journalism in the country?
Anna Agustina, a lecturer and deputy dean at the privately managed Pancasila University’s school of communication, tackled the question through a PhD thesis at the University of Science of Malaysia (USM). The recently released study was titled Perceptions and Roles of Indonesian Journalists in Covering Environmental Problems in Indonesia.
For 20 months starting in July 2014, Agustina collected data in eight provinces from 30 journalists in Aceh, Jakarta, Ketapang and Pontianak in West Kalimantan, Makassar in South Sulawesi, Semarang in Central Java, Surabaya in East Java and Yogyakarta.
