ased on a survey by analysis firm International Data Corporation (IDC), enterprises face a series of challenges in developing new business models and implementing digital strategies across their organizations.
These top-three challenges are: A struggle to align resources/people with strategic initiatives; identifying key business or corporate goals; and building support from various internal stakeholders in key investments.
Prominent telecommunications firm Telkomtelstra, together with IDC, hosted a series of Digital Transformation (DiTA) workshops from April to September 2017 focused on advancing digital transformation to help enterprises succeed and deliver engaging customer experiences.
The executives from enterprises across diverse industries attended these events, which explored new organizational structures and approaches, studied executive mandates for digital investment, determined new key performance indicators (KPIs), executed the chief information officer’s (CIO) role and employed digital competencies to overcome transformation issues.
"As the digital business revolution gains pace, digital transformation is no longer an option, it’s a necessity for companies to stay viable," said Agus F. Abdillah, Telkomtelstra's chief product and synergy officer. "This digital transformation requires new thinking and facilitators that provide best practices to help them overcome challenges. These workshops provided a unique platform to share insights and guidance, helping enterprises adapt in this new digital world."
The workshops demonstrated that for enterprises to thrive in the digital economy they will need a strong leadership vision for digital transformation.
They will also need to blend digital and physical experiences to drive customer engagement, turn information into competitive advantage, create new digital revenue streams from an enterprise digital platform and leverage technology to source talent.
"Changing competitive landscapes are disrupting businesses across all sectors and creating an imperative to invest in digital transformation to improve customer experience, drive operational efficiencies and optimize the workforce," said Sudev Bangah, IDC's managing director for the ASEAN region. "These workshops focused on real-world transformation challenges facing enterprises and identified business opportunities for innovative and digitally competent companies."
Attendees took part in-depth sessions and interactions in five workshops that delivered valuable insights and strategies on digital transformations required to foster innovation and drive digital businesses in the future.
To assess the maturity of a company's implementation in digital transformation toward their business, Telkomtelstra offered both security and digital readiness assessments for all the attendees as a complimentary service.
By the close of the program, together with IDC, the organizations that participated in the assessment had the chance to be nominated for the Digital Transformation (DX) award, the winner of which will be announced at the end of October.
Through DX programs in the upcoming year, Telkomtelstra is aiming to continuously provide support and initiatives for the enterprises that require insights and knowledge about the best practices of DX.
