t least 3,000 visitors and 40 exhibitors from local and international companies are expected to join the first-ever Selangor Aviation Show (SAS). The exhibition will be held from Nov. 25 to 27 in the state of Selangor, Malaysia’s aviation and aerospace growth area and a major hub for the aerospace industry.
SAS 2021, organized by Invest Selangor Berhad, the state’s investment promotion agency, will bring together the world’s best in aerospace and aviation, creating potential business and investment opportunities in both domestic and in international stages, according to the agency in a statement.
The event, themed Selangor, the ASEAN Business and General Aviation Hub, is a networking exposition designed as a catalyst for all relevant stakeholders to dialogue and share knowledge and offerings poised to revitalize the industry in the post-COVID-19 environment.
SAS 2021 is dedicated to providing an invaluable opportunity for high-level networking and market penetration prospects with industry players from a range of sectors, including commercials, the business aviation, general aviation and helicopters subsectors of the aviation industry in Malaysia and potentially in the region.
SAS 2021 features static aircraft displays, forums, an Edu Open Day and key industry players.
Highlights of the show will be a full spectrum of aircraft, from business jets to helicopters and general aviation, for you to compare the best way to maximize your business efficiency.
If you wish to keep abreast with aviation development, you can join the Forum/Talk Show. SAS 2021 will help address the industry’s most pressing challenges and offer participants access to networks with leading experts from around the globe.
EDU/Open Day on Nov. 27 will be the best event to join for students. An ultimate eye-opener experience for spectators, especially young aviation enthusiast!
At the SAS 2021 exhibition, the future of regional business and general aviation sectors will be displayed throughout the exhibition halls.
The name Selangor is highly identical with aviation as it houses over 200 aerospace and aviation-related players, including all various activities from electrical parts and services, manufacturing of parts and many others.
Selangor, home to two airports and the highest air traffic in the country, is also recognized as the main hub for Malaysia’s aerospace and aviation industry, as it is home to more than 62 percent of the total aerospace companies and over 20 institutions of higher learning related to the industry.
The industry is strongly supported by a great demand from players in the Asia-Pacific region, making up to 30 percent of the global aerospace and aviation activities and products.
According to Invest Selangor, the Selangor state government established the Aerospace Council to further drive the aerospace sector’s development and position the state’s capabilities as a leading aerospace hub in the ASEAN region.
Aviation industry and, in particular, airlines around the world are facing extreme financial pressures and are cutting capacity at unparalleled rates in the absence of meaningful passenger demand. Although more than 300 million of the world’s population have started taking the vaccines, airlines still face challenges from a patchwork economic recovery. It is anticipated that the industry will only be back to pre-pandemic operations by 2022, once the borders are open.
Realizing the need to further promote the aerospace industry, the Selangor Darul Ehsan Aerospace Industry Coordination Office (S-DAICO) was set up as a dedicated aerospace division under Invest Selangor in 2020 to coordinate and monitor Selangor’s aerospace growth and development and promotion under the Selangor Aerospace Action Plan.
Selangor has outlined about 30 action plans under a Selangor Aerospace Action Plan, to be carried out by both federal and state governments in order to position Selangor as a major hub for the aerospace industry in South East Asia focusing on Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO).
SAS 2021 will be open for the public on the final day, Nov. 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with children above 16 years old allowed to attend the event with strict health and precautionary safety measures, including wearing a mask at all times.
As there won’t be walk-in registration during the event, interested visitors are advised to pre-register to secure a spot.
