There has been accelerated growth in the economic-and-tourism sector. Step by step, sectors impacted by COVID-19 are slowly showing signs of recovery and expansion as public consumption and mobility increase.

The Gran Fondo New York (GNFY) Bali 2022 is back for the fourth time in Gianyar, Bali. The event is expected to be another driving force for the revitalization of the tourism industry.

The international road-bike event has been held seven times. GNFY had been hosted in Lombok in 2016 and 2017, in Samosir in 2018 and lastly in Bali in 2020 before the pandemic hit Indonesia. It is a bicycle-marathon series held in 19 countries with over 30,000 participants signing up for regional races before the world championship in New York, the United States.

GNFY Indonesia is part of the GNFY World Series that has been running since 2016. Racers from Indonesia and abroad increased annually from 700 to 1,700. This year, Indonesia has been chosen as the Asia Championship house.

On Aug. 7 in Gianyar, Bali, there will be 2,000 local and international racers competing for a spot in the 2023 world championship in New York.

Chairperson of GNY Indonesia Tenne Permata Sari expressed hope that this international championship will stimulate the national economy. Moreover, there will be participants from across Indonesia and other countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, France, Italy and the US.

The economic impact will affect various industries, from hospitality to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) including souvenir businesses, restaurants and more.

“We have great hope that the GNFY Bali Element Camp 2022 will have a hand in stimulating the tourism sector in which we connect, share, learn and support each other while helping accelerate Indonesia’s tourism sector. We appreciate all the support and cooperation from the central and local governments as well as other organizations and especially businesses,” Tenne said.

GNFY Bali is divided into the long (137 kilometer) and medium (102 km) routes stretching across beaches and mountain areas. There has also been a Bike Expo from Aug. 5 to 7 in Gianyar featuring booths from various industries with camping as the main theme. The expo will be partnering with BNI (bank partner), Vision+ (media partner), Aladin Travel (travel partner) and sponsored by Geliga, Santika Hotel Group and Garuda Indonesia.

This event was made possible under strict protocols with support from the central government and related organizations.

BNI services-and-network director Ronny Venir said that this event perfectly suits BNI’s Go Productive spirit in regards to propelling the national economy.

The company is certain GNFY Bali 2022 will inspire various other economic activities, accelerating the growth of various sectors from the creative industry to the MSME segment.

“We thank the committee behind GNFY Bali 2022 for their hard work and dedication to make this event a reality. We hope that it will push all of us to better the positive economic trend,” he said.

He further explained that GNFY 2022 attendees will be enabled with various payment channels to buy merchandise, including BNI credit or debit cards, Tap Cash, QRIS and mobile banking. BNI will also be showcasing the brand activation for three products: Mobile Banking, BNI Direct and Xpora.

“In fact, we’re currently propelling MSMEs to go global with BNI Xpora in accordance with the State-Owned Enterprises (SEO) Minister’s mandate to BNI as a bank partner for Indonesian MSMEs to help market their products on the global stage,” explained Ronny.
