ogyakarta, Edtech Cakap has just inaugurated its branch office outside Jakarta, better known as the Cakap Innovation Hub, which is located on Jl Palagan Tentara Pelajar, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta. These days we see many graduates from Jogja campuses working in digital startups from various industries; moreover, digital startups are keen to recruit fresh-to-experienced graduates from campuses in Yogyakarta due to their excellence -- especially in technology-based fields of work such as backend-frontend developers, quality assurance, wordpress and android developers.

Not only that, jobs in the field of education, especially teachers, both language teachers and experts in certain fields, are widely supported by campus graduates in Yogyakarta. Up to date, based on data from the Higher Education Directorate at the Education Ministry, there are 387,000 students in Yogyakarta, and there are at least 15 study programs related to information technology that are accredited A and B (high accreditation). Cakap accommodates this already strong and potentially stronger digital talent in Jogja by opening and inaugurating an innovation center.

Communications and Information Technology Minister Johnny G. Plate welcomed the inauguration of the Cakap Innovation Hub in a written statement, saying this was in line with the government's mission to nurture the development of nation's digital talent to accelerate digital transformation in the country.

"We appreciate the efforts of Cakap that have provided room for local talents to develop, especially in the field of technology, while contributing to the national development of digital talents," Johnny said in the statement.

The communications ministry has targeted reaching 5.5 million people this year through the digital literacy program, which has been delivered to more than 12 million participants to date. In addition, the ministry aims to provide the Digital Talent Scholarship to at least 200,000 youths this year so they can acquire knowledge and develop their skills in disciplines such as coding and programming, big data analytics and cybersecurity.

Yohan Limerta, CTO and Co-founder of Cakap, stated that the inauguration of the Innovation Hub Yogyakarta is Cakap's commitment in accommodating digital talents that are widely found in the region. "Jogja is like a second home, because it has been a place for our developers to develop products since Cakap was founded in 2019. The city is also one of the centers of quality talent in various fields, one of which is potential digital talents from various well-known universities," said Yohan. In the future, Cakap will continue to expand as one of the efforts to recruit the nation's best digital talents.

Based on Cakap's internal data, a number of employees are listed as alumni from leading universities in Jogja. Those are from Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Mercu Buana University Yogyakarta, Sanata Dharma University and Amikom University. Employees range from fresh graduates to professionals with more than three years of work experience.

The presence of the Innovation Hub is also positively welcomed by the academics. Gia Rizky, representing Yogyakarta University of Technology (UTY), stated that Cakap Innovation Hub, which is very close to campuses in Jogja, is very much in line with the Tri-Dharma Pendidikan Tinggi or threefold missions of higher education. "The existence of an Innovation Hub like this is very helpful for the world of education, especially for the preparation of the workforce in the terms of soft skills, hard skills and preparing prospective workers for the career side." Gia also added that it had previously collaborated with Cakap in order to provide material for seminars, workshops, internships and distribution to graduates.

Cakap Innovation Hub is a branch of Cakap headquarters that will focus to become an innovation center that will produce more solutions for the nations. This function will be in line with Cakap's head office, which is located in Jakarta with a focus on business and operational development.

Tomy Yunus, CEO & Co-Founder of Cakap said that the aim of having this Innovation Hub is to become a center for the development of innovations in the fields of education and technology. We would like to invite innovators who have an interest in the field of education to join Cakap, in advancing the education industry through technology. "We hope that with the inauguration of Cakap Innovation Hub, the absorption of digital talents in Yogyakarta can be faster and more effective, and can be a place to channel all the best aspects they have. In accordance with our vision of becoming a leading career upskilling and enrichment platform, we start from our internal resources that we recruit and place appropriately," concluded Tomy.
