he United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is working with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) to push initiatives ranging from clean energy to human rights in the private sector.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two organizations covers initiatives like private-sector investment to support the transition to clean energy; compliance with environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles; and advocating for human rights in business operations.
The MoU also stipulates the need to make micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) more resilient to possible social and economic shocks as well as natural disasters.
“Our collaboration with Kadin will further push the sustainability agenda to the forefront,” UNDP Indonesia resident-representative Norimasa Shimomura said in a statement on Wednesday.
“We are anticipating many businesses, including small and medium enterprises, to follow suit in adopting inclusive as well as green and zero-emission business models,” he added.
