he Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) Composite index (IHSG) closed higher by 0.43 percent, or 20.04 points, at 6,838.31 on Monday.
The IHSG stayed in the green zone throughout the trading session, with a low of 6,812 and a high of 6,857. By the closing bell, 283 stocks ended in the green, 244 stocks weakened and 226 stayed unchanged. The IHSG recorded a total volume of 21.11 billion, with a transaction value of Rp 7.28 trillion (US$458.3 million).
Of 11 sectors within the IHSG, 10 closed higher. Raw materials became the highest-gaining sector, posting a 1.07 percent increase. Infrastructure and technology followed, with 1.05 percent and 0.78 percent gains, respectively. Meanwhile, transportation was the only losing sector, weakening by 0.20 percent.
Three top gainers within LQ45 were PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia (GOTO), PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper (INKP) and PT Essa Industries Indonesia (ESSA), which rose by 3.95 percent, 3.24 percent and 2.50 percent, respectively.
PT Bank Jago (ARTO) became the biggest loser within LQ45, closing 5.34 percent lower on Monday. PT Mitra Adiperkasa (MAPI) followed by losing 4.45 percent, while PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical (TPIA) declined by 3.00 percent.
Other benchmark indexes in Asia showed varied performances. The Nikkei 225 in Japan and Hang Seng in Hong Kong closed 0.05 percent and 1.30 percent higher, respectively. South Korea’s Kospi lost 0.24 percent to close at 2.403,76.
Meanwhile, European stock indexes generally strengthened after the opening bell on Monday. London’s FTSE 100 gained 0.61 percent in the session, while the DAX 30 in Germany rose by 0.28 percent. The CAC 40 in France also posted a 0.44 percent gain.
