Minister Airlangga and Tony Blair discuss geopolitical financial inclusivity

s one of the pillars in the strategy to drive national economic growth, inclusive finance for various societal groups continues to be promoted by the government by enhancing equitable access to quality formal financial services at affordable costs according to the needs of people in various regions.

During the visit of former United Kingdom prime minister Tony Blair to the Office of the Coordinating Economic Minister on Friday, Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto discussed efforts to promote financial inclusivity, including through digitalization. Considering the resources available to the Tony Blair Institute (TBI), it is hoped that they can support these digitalization efforts.

"We want to ensure that digitalization is inclusive, so we are discussing digital infrastructure, data centers, artificial intelligence regulations and cyber security," minister Airlangga said during the session.

Minister Airlangga also said the two had discussed the energy transition, particularly the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETPI), the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) and efforts to realize the energy transition, including through solar power plants (PLTS) in the future national capital of Nusantara that are set to have a capacity of 1.2 gigawatts.

Additionally, minister Airlangga and Tony Blair discussed geopolitical issues emerging amid other global uncertainties. The conflicts in the Middle East are indeed unwanted problems for various countries, causing them to prefer restraint. For Indonesia's interests, it is hoped that geopolitical stability will be more conducive to better impacts, especially for the national economy.
