Middle Eastern soul food served at Sababa Bali

ababa Bali, a fresh lifestyle restaurant in Berawa, Bali, serves East Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine. The restaurant’s doors are open for guests or visitors from 5 p.m. onwards.

“Inspired by all the cultural traditions of the Middle East, Sababa is praised for the freshness of the products, spices and colors,” Sababa Bali said in a statement.

The menu is made up of East Mediterranean-inspired share plates from “octo-ganoush” -- grilled octopus and babaganoush -- to the peas-and-kale-based green shakshouka and traditional grilled meat.

According to the restaurant, Sababa comes from the word tzababa (great, wonderful) in Arabic.  It has come to define a state of being cool and chill, an attitude coming straight from the Levant countries, that fits perfectly in the Bali vibe.

You can discover the oriental-inspired cocktails that echo ingredients from the menu such as a sip of delima cosmo, the pomegranate version of the cosmopolitan.

“The wide range of sharing plates is better enjoyed with our best selection of wine, scintillating cocktails or with a fresh lemonana (an ice-fresh mint-lemon beverage),” it said.

Or you can tantalize your taste buds by dipping the fluffy Sababread into homemade dips such as the spicy zhug (green chili sauce with garlic) and house-made labneh (an iconic middle-eastern cheese spread).

Desserts are just as delectable, with options like savory knafeh cake and malabi, a Levantine version of creamy milk pudding showered with strawberry sauce and pistachios.

“Get yourself an authentic Middle Eastern cuisine surrounded by East Mediterranean vibes fit for the Bali ambience, only at Sababa,” it said.
