Kaesang says wife won't run in Sleman election
According to the President's youngest son, Gerindra politicians had touted Erina as a potential candidate, emphasizing that his wife had never expressed her intention to run in the regional head elections in Sleman regency, Yogyakarta.

ndonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) chairman Kaesang Pangarep, the youngest son of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, has said that his wife Erina Gudono will not run for Sleman regent in the regional head elections in November.
He underlined that Erina had never announced her intention to run in the local elections in Yogyakarta, and that politicians in the Gerindra Party had raised her name as a potential candidate.
"She never had the intention to begin with. So this is not her dropping out," said Kaesang, as quoted by Kompas.com.
According to Gerindra, Erina’s name had come up during an internal survey to determine the most popular politicians in Sleman, and she stood a good chance of securing the post of regent.
The party’s Sleman branch is apparently communicating with other parties, such as the Golkar Party, to gain enough legislative seats to nominate Erina in the November election.
Gerindra is still short four out of the 10 total seats it needs in Sleman to nominate a candidate pair for regent and vice regent.
Born in the United States and raised in Yogyakarta, Erina is a former a model and beauty pageant contestant who represented Yogyakarta in Puteri Indonesia 2022, where she finished in the top 11.
Her popularity grew later that year when she married Kaesang, who was then still managing his food and beverage businesses and gaining followers through his YouTube vlogs.
