lackBerry has been lowering the price point of its first Android premium smartphone, the Priv, but more recently the device has been seeing even more significant discounting.
Launched just last year, the Priv was initially priced at US$699. But recent sales in some US online stores have cut the device’s price down to $347.99, or about half of its initial value, as reported by tempo.co.
One online store, New Egg, is even selling the smartphone 53 percent cheaper than its original price, according to gsmarena.com.

BlackBerry reportedly reduced the Priv's price in a bid to reach more customers around the world. But as its price keeps falling, it appears to be a clear indication of the smartphone’s low demand. One US mobile carrier, T-Mobile, recently confirmed that they had stopped selling the Priv online.
Unlike other Android smartphones, BlackBerry Priv offers a four-line QWERTY keypad as an extra feature on top of its touchscreen. To use the keypad, users can simply slide the screen up. Users can also use its keyboard as a trackpad and enjoy the phone's wide 5.5-inch AMOLED screen. (int/kes)
