orld renowned haute couture designer Harry Darsono will present his collections in the style of musical couture for the first time in Indonesia on Oct. 15.

Dubbed Carnivale of Colourful Couture, the show is set to take place at the Pullman Jakarta Indonesia Hotel in Central Jakarta for 90 minutes, in which Harry will present more than 40 looks, including around 27 looks from his signature art-to-wear works that was recreated from his Haute Couture shows, a pair of Phantom of the Opera costumes with its original golden mask and 14 looks inspired by West Sumatra’s unique, traditional method of tying headbands.

“It's my tribute to Indonesian design, art and high fashion,” Harry said of the show he dubbed as a “celebration” in an official statement. “I want to recreate my works for my Indonesian friends and valued partners in a musical couture; I hope they will enjoy it."

Harry said the looks were personally hand-painted by him on handwoven pure silks made in Garut, West Java. It will be brought to the stage by philanthropists, donors and supporters of the Harry Darsono Foundation as well Miss Universe-Indonesia. Eighty five percent of revenue collected from the sales will be used to aid people with special needs under the supervision of the foundation. Prices of the clothes, which currently has sold out, ranged from Rp 11 million (US$848) to Rp 23 million.

The designer plans to incorporate music as well as performances in the show, including a Dayak performance by a native Borneo tribe and ballet dancing by ballerinas from Seoul, South Korea. Harry also said he wants to present a musical performance that uses a piano that was exclusively designed by him. (kes)
