ustralian-based coffee roaster Toby’s Estate has opened its first Indonesian store on PIK (Pantai Indah Kapuk) Avenue in North Jakarta on Saturday.
The café is said to be the first user of the Mavam Espresso machine in Indonesia and offers specialty coffees, which range from single-origin coffee to its signature Australian flat-white. Meals include avo on toast, buttermilk fried chicken on a corn frittata and Toby’s signature ricotta pancakes.
Toby’s Estate founder Toby Smith said the café uses Indonesian coffee along with coffee from Yemen, Brazil and Costa Rica.

“Based on our experience, Indonesian coffee is well-liked due to its special taste and richness in variety,” Smith said. “Business-wise, the establishment of Toby’s Estate in Indonesia will help us promote Toby’s Estate in the Indonesian market.”
In addition to beverage and food, the café also provides coffee making training and business-to-business (B2B) partnerships, such as providing coffee beans or coffee making utensils.
Toby’s Estate began its journey in 2001 with a shop at Woolloomooloo in Sydney. It has branched out to other parts of Australia like Chippendale, Brisbane and Melbourne and later to New York, Philippines and Kuwait.
Aside from operating as a coffee chain, the brand also sells its coffee to other stores in Australia. (kes)
