nstagram is currently testing a new feature on its platform, giving a taste to a small number of users to stream live Instagram broadcasts with a friend in split-screen mode.
The feature lets you add a friend to your live broadcast simply by tapping the new icon on the bottom right, which is shaped like two smiley faces.
"Once they join, you’ll see the screen split into two and your friend pop up right below you," Instagram said in a statement on its website, published on Tuesday.

The visual-sharing platform added that it would roll out the feature globally within the next few months.
According to The Verge, the addition complements a feature on Facebook, which owns Instagram, that released a similar feature to Facebook Live in May.
The report further noted that Snapchat could roll out a similar feature, in keeping up with the competitive social media platform world. (liz/kes)
