The Indonesian Drum and Percussion Festival is making a comeback at Taman Ismail Marzuki in Jakarta from March 29 to April 1.
As reported by kompas.com, festival founder Eki Sukarno said the event aimed to preserve Indonesia's traditional musical heritage, noting that the country was familiar with percussions and drums that were intertwined in its cultural roots.

Eki said he had initiated the concept in 1993, after researching the history of the instruments, which resulted in a desire and determination to preserve its values by initiating an event that would appreciate arts and culture, especially the use of drums and percussions -- both modern and traditional -- in order to build a continuous love of music for the next generation.
The festival will bring together the music community, as it aims to provide training facilities, education, as well as a platform to share knowledge and conduct activities related to music associated with drums and percussions. (liz/kes)
