Disney and Coach have announced their collaboration for a special-edition collection.
Titled “A Dark Fairy Tale”, the theme offers classic Disney princess tales with a dark and romantic twist, emblazoned on Coach ready-to-wear clothing and leather goods.
Spooky undertones and the tension of nostalgic Disney animations are said to evoke the feeling of gothic fairy tales.
For instance, famous motifs from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Sleeping Beauty such as castles, apples and woodland creatures, shift to a darker side. Retro T-shirts with rock ’n roll fonts are styled with biker jackets, and Coach’s signature print was made darker with bold leather detailing.

Sportswear is also available in the form of jersey hoodies, sneakers and fanny packs decorated with patches and embellishments in Disney’s spirit. A special storypatch was also made to commemorate the collection.
This the third collaboration between Coach and Disney.
Coach creative director Stuart Vevers said: “It was fun to explore the darker side of these stories and mix Disney’s nostalgic charm with Coach’s creativity to bring my memories from these fairy tales to life […] The Disney spirit truly reinforces the new youthful perspective we are bringing to luxury at Coach.”
Disney x Coach: A Dark Fairy Tale was launched on Thursday at Coach Soho, New York. The collection will be available globally on Monday in Coach stores.
Select stores are said to have uniquely designed Disney-inspired castles, re-imagined with a darker feel through corrugated metal and bright purple detailing. (wng)
