A

merican luxury brand, Coach, launched its spring/summer 2018 collection in Plaza Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday. The brand highlights a number of new collections, ranging from the usual handbags, purses and leather goods to ready-to-wear items.

To greet the colorful spring and exciting summer, Coach is presenting a collaboration with American visual artist, Keith Haring, by featuring his artworks on the brand's leather goods. Haring had a democratic and accessible approach to art, and an ethos that Coach has long stood for inclusivity.

Haring’s unmistakable bold graphics are also applied to the women’s ready-to-wear collection, which exudes a tomboy aura amid its femininity, applied in sheer tees adorned with antiqued crystals, satin bomber jackets with rose gold rivets and silk, also sparkly lace-trimmed slip dresses.

The men’s ready-to-wear collection highlights soft suede jackets and outerwear contrasted with cheeky Hawaiian print shirts and Keith Haring graphics mixed throughout. Bags of the season include the Bleecker backpack and Metropolitan Portfolio for men and the Camera Bag and the Mailbox for women, which are the re-edition of an archival Coach style first introduced in 1972.

Coach's iconic pattern juxtaposed with Keith Haring’s artwork is featured in Signature, a collection of attitude-packed Tea Rose rivets and bold hardware. Coach creative director Stuart Vevers said, “With Coach Signature, I liked the idea of customizing it and making it into a canvas for something really personal.”

“We’ve taken the familiar and subverted it with a downtown attitude; the unexpected juxtaposition feels very much for today,” he added.

Keith Haring x Coach was done in collaboration with Artestar, the exclusive representative agency for Keith Haring worldwide as well as other high-profile artists.
