ilang Child, the stage name of London-based singer-songwriter Ed Riman, has released a new video for "Crow", a single off the upcoming album Years.
Riman, a half-Welsh, half-Indonesian musician who lives in London, plans to release the full-length Years in October under indie label Bella Union.
Riman has won praise from critics for some of his early singles and recently collaborated with Lost Horizons, a new group comprising the Cocteau Twins' Simon Raymonde and former Dif Juz drummer Richie Thomas. For the project, Riman co-wrote two songs and joined Lost Horizons' live ensemble for their recent shows. He will also tour with them for upcoming shows.
The single "Crow" showcases Riman's impressive range as a vocalist, calling to mind Justin Vernon's work for Bon Iver, and his penchant for swelling guitar crescendos in the mold of U2.
"'Crow' is the most hopeful song on this album. I wanted to write something that sonically created the feeling of glimpsing at a brighter future; a release of euphoric energy in anticipation of better times incoming," Riman said of the new single.
