T

he third edition of "Make Me a Zalora Model" initiated by online fashion retailer Zalora is set to begin on Aug. 3 and will run over a four-week period.

The model competition encourages the participation of wannabe models from countries across Asia, such as Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Said to be the first contest of its kind held via social media, Make Me a Zalora Model uses Instagram to find two new faces and give them a chance to achieve their dreams of becoming a professional model. Each week, participants from each country with the best photo will be selected by the judges to move on to the next stage. Twelve selected participants will then fly to Manila for the grand final where the winner will be announced.

The competition is open for men and women aged 18 years old and above. Those interested in participating can start by uploading their best selfie or full length photo to Instagram with the hashtag #MMAZMCycle3 and tagging @zaloraid

Among the prizes on offer are an exclusive contract with Singapore-based model agency UpFrontModels, a three-month paid contract with Zalora and the chance to appear in Zalora magazine campaigns as well as in its fashion editorial.

“As an Asian e-retailer, we aim to create opportunities for locals, especially models who have high dreams, and give them a chance to appear on the international stage,” said Giulio Xiloyannis, chief operating officer of Zalora, in a statement. “The competition is a way to celebrate the diverse beauty in Asia and send an inclusive message as an Asian representative on the international stage.”

Established in 2016, the model search contest has seen the participation of 6,000 people over the past two years. (wir/kes)
