Android 9 Pie has several new features, like an official "dark mode" that changes the user interface and gesture-based navigation.
ollowing its tradition of naming its Android 9 operating system (OS) after candies, pastries and desserts like Lollipop, Marshmallow, Nougat and Oreo, Google has announced the name of its latest OS: Android Pie.
The official release version of the Android 9 Pie is now available, as kompas.com reported, but is currently limited to an over-the-air update for the tech giant's Pixel smartphone series.

Android Pie updates for other brands available soon, around the third quarter of the year, with Sony, Xiaomi, Nokia, Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus and Essential set to join the program.

"We're also working together with other partners to launch new devices with Android 9, or upgrade to Android 9, this year," read a statement from the company.
