Most of the films at the 2018 Tolerance Film Festival revolve around the issue of identity and related conflicts.
he Tolerance Film Festival returns this year over four days from Nov. 15 to 18 at the French cultural center, Institut Français d'Indonésie (IFI), in Central Jakarta.
Among the line-up of films for public screening are Dancing Arabs, Nina Bobo untuk Bobby, The 90-Minute War and Hate Spaces. Most of the films revolve around issues of identity and related conflicts. The animation-documentary Nina Bobo untuk Bobby (2017), for example, is based on the true story of a Javanese family in the Netherlands who hid a Jewish baby for four years during the Holocaust.

Meanwhile, The 90-Minute War (2016), takes a humorous look at the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through a soccer game.
The annual festival will also present a discussion, "Toleran Terhadap Intoleransi" (tolerance toward intolerance), on the closing day on Sunday, Nov. 18, as well as a film review competition that carries a Rp 500,000 (US$33) cash prize.
Initiated in 2016 by journalist Monique Rijkers, the Tolerance Film Festival commemorates the International Day of Tolerance, which falls on Nov. 16. (wir/mut)
