Starring Lee Ha-na and Lee Jin-wook, Voice 3 follows the members of the South Korean 112 emergency call center and dispatch team as they try to solve international crimes.

This season provides something for Indonesian viewers as it features an Indonesian character and the Indonesian language in episodes five and six.

The Indonesian, Pertiwi, is featured in the two episodes, which were broadcasted on May 25 and 26.

Originating from Sulawesi, the 27-year-old woman works as a secretary of a director in South Korea. A graduate of the University of Indonesia, Pertiwi wants to help her mother and siblings and does so by working abroad. However, she is met with trauma when she is sexually abused months after migrating to Korea.

Tapi karena terlalu sulit buat mereka akhir setelah 7 jam berusaha gak dapet feelnya akhirnya diputuskan untuk awalnya saja pakai bahasa indonesia lalu script aku yg tadinya semua pakai bahasa indonesia dirubah pakai bahasa korea lagi secara dadakan! Yannie Mustafa, popularly known as Yannie Kim, the actress portraying Pertiwi, said in a post on her Instagram account that the production house initially offered her the role of a Vietnamese immigrant.

Upon reading the script, she suggested changing the character to an Indonesian woman as the episode was titled “The Secret of Sumpitan”.

“[Sumpitan] is an Indonesian traditional hunting weapon,” she said as quoted by tempo.co.

Yannie also said the police interrogation scene was initially planned to be shot with Indonesian dialogue.

“But it’s too hard for [actress Son Eun-seo to speak in Indonesian]. After seven hours of trying, [the production house] decided to only feature the Indonesian language in the beginning [of the scene],” she said.

This is not Yannie's first time acting in a South Korean television series. She previously starred in Yong-pal and Gaori. (jes/wng)
