lue Bird has expanded its women’s empowerment program Kartini Bluebird with the launch of a new branch in Surabaya, East Java, on Monday.
In an official statement, the taxi service company stated that the program’s services are now available for the wives and daughters of drivers working under Blue Bird.
These services include training in crafts such as the culinary arts, tailoring and classes on marketing and business development.
The training will be carried out by experts, with the aim to also develop entrepreneurial skills.

Blue Bird director Noni Purnomo, who officiated the launch, said, “We are very happy and proud to expand our program to Surabaya. We hope that the presence of Kartini Bluebird can benefit the people of Surabaya, not only as a taxi service but also to play a role in boosting the city’s economic growth through Kartini Bluebird.”
She added that with the program first established in Jakarta in 2014, Kartini Bluebird had empowered 600 people and improved their skills and confidence through training.
“Kartini Bluebird’s programs have enabled [women to] not only make a profit but also have a positive social impact on women and their families,” Noni said. (ayr/wng)
