ctress Rachel Amanda’s repertoire of drama titles may have won her fame on TV screens, but her return to the silver screen may further cement her reputation as a rising star.
Fresh off her latest production NKCTHI – Nanti Kita Cerita Tentang Hari Ini (One Day We’ll Talk About Today), Amanda is pleasantly surprised by the viewer figures the drama has received.
Hitting theaters nationwide on Jan. 2, NKCTHI was watched by more than 118,000 cinemagoers on its opening day, reaching the million-viewer mark in a week on Jan.9.
The movie is the first Indonesian title to reach 1 million viewers in 2020.
As of Jan. 15, data from filmindonesia.or.id showed that NKCTHI has managed more than 1.4 million viewers, with the movie’s Instagram page announcing that it had amassed a total of 1.6 million views over 13 days.
“The Indonesian audience has grown, in that we finally realized that they are craving something different, like a non-linear story line with a smooth execution. What we didn’t expect was that the movie would become a medium of reflection for many, how they can relate to [the characters],” she said during a recent media event at Visinema Pictures, NKCTHI‘s production house.
In the movie, adapted from the book of the same name by Marchella FP, Amanda plays Awan, the youngest of three siblings navigating life in a seemingly perfect family that harbors some skeletons in the closet.
