dding to the many initiatives launched to face the COVID-19 pandemic, Indonesian musicians recently climbed on the bandwagon by releasing a song titled “Menjaga Dunia” (Protecting the World), which they are dedicating to the country and the world currently fighting against the disease.
Sixteen Indonesian musicians feature on the song, which was written and produced by Ade. Among the contributing artists are Rian from d’Masiv, Anji, Judika, Titi DJ, Lala Karmela, Vidi Aldiano, Pamungkas, Rizky Febian, Cita Citata, Ilham and Neida from HIVI!, Claudia Emmanuela and Ifan from Govinda, as well as instrumentalists Ade and Jeje from Govinda and Dimas Joey.
All of the musicians involved in the song recorded their parts separately. Ade later collected the vocals and music tracks via email.
“This is a new experience. I've been in the music industry for a long time, but I learned new things [after getting involved in this project],” Titi DJ, the most senior singer in the team, said during a digital press conference as quoted by Antara news agency.
The song “Menjaga Dunia”, which spreads the message of protecting yourself, maintaining physical distance while remaining close to heart, and having the spirit to recover; is available for streaming on various digital platforms starting Monday.
The initiator, multiplatform media company Grup Mahaka Radio Integra (MARI), has also opened a crowdfunding initiative to invite the public to donate to people badly affected by the pandemic, especially those who have to continue working outside their house.
Dangdut legend Rhoma Irama also recently released a new single inspired by the worrying pandemic, titled "Virus Corona". (gis/kes)
