JAKARTA: Senior pop singer Vina Panduwinata claims she is still confident of an enduring career in the spotlight, despite the fact she will turn 50 next year.
"I don't know how to be a 50-year-old woman. But I'm not afraid," Vina was quoted as saying by Antara after celebrating her 49th birthday at the HardRock Cafe in Central Jakarta on Wednesday.
The mother of one said many women were afraid to enter the golden age, but added she was glad and would continue her singing career.
The birthday party was a surprise for Vina; she was invited to the cafe for the launch of an album from newcomer Inke Prima titled Introducing Me.
Born in Bogor, West Java, on August 6, 1959, Vina, who has released 15 albums, received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Indonesian Music Awards in 2006.--JP
