Ivan not worried about piracy

JAKARTA: Piracy of copyrighted products is increasingly hard to curb in the country, making many singers and artists worry about the future of their creative works.

But designer and celebrity Ivan Gunawan is not one of them. Instead, he says he is proud if his works are copied by others.

"The more the merrier. The more people who copy my designs, it's good," Ivan was quoted as saying by detik.com.

Ivan, who is popularly known as "Madam" after a role he played in a TV variety show, expressed confidence that despite the fact many celebrities were opening boutiques, every fashion design was unique.

"All products in my boutique are purely made by me, my own design ... but the brand Luna Maya is made by other designers," Ivan said.

The 27-year-old said his designs were priced from Rp 80,000 to Rp 250,000 each.

"But (the design) is glamorous. The thing is, how to make it (glamorous) at a lower price, but that looks expensive ..." -- JP
