Still no identity for mutilated body

JAKARTA: Jakarta Police confirmed Friday the mutilated body victim was not Hasan Basri, like they suspected earlier.

The head of vice control and the violent crime department at Jakarta Police, Adj. Sr. Comr. Fadil Imran, said Friday the body had a different height and shoe size to Hasan Basri.

Earlier Hasan Basri's family came to the police to identify the body.

"We stopped the investigation for Hasan Basri's family because of the different sizes," Fadil said as quoted by okezone.com.

He said only two families had come to the police to check the body.

The police would conduct a DNA test in the near future, he said without providing a specific time frame.

"We suspect the victim was killed 12 hours before he was found. It is possible the execution was done outside Jakarta. Therefore, we call for families outside Jakarta with relatives missing to report to us," Fadil said.

Earlier the police said they were sketching the woman who allegedly carried the bags containing the parts of the victim's body. The body was divided into 13 parts, found on a Mayasari Bakti bus in Pulo Gadung on Sept. 29. -JP
