JAKARTA: Senggigi will host the Lombok International Triathlon for the second year Sunday as a one-day event that also promotes local tourism.
Some 300 Indonesian and 150 foreign athletes are expected to compete in the race, which consists of a 1.8-kilometer swim, a 55-kilometer cycle and a 12-kilometer run.
Among the participants is last year's runner-up Sebastien Calle of France, "who is coming back with the intention to go for first place this year," the organizers said in a release.
The race will kick off at 7 a.m., beginning with a swim starting at the Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort, followed by a bicycle race that will take the contestants through the lush green Monkey Forest to Mount Gunung Pusuk, where they will begin the run. --JP
