Indonesia will launch the Bali Democracy Forum on Dec. 10 in the resort island to promote democracy and enhance capacity to strengthen democratic institutions in Asia.
The forum, initiated by Jakarta, will be attended by foreign ministers from around 20 countries, with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd as co-chairs, Foreign Ministry spokesman Teuku Faizasyah said Friday.
"An expert group will convene on Nov. 9-10 in Bali to prepare the groundwork for the forum," Faizasyah said.
Foreign Minister Hassan Wirayuda will leave for Canberra to attend the Australia-Indonesia Ministerial Forum from Nov. 11-12.
Hassan will lead an Indonesian delegation comprising Trade Minister Mari E. Pangestu, State Minister for the Environment Rahmat Witoelar, Agriculture Minister Anton Apriyantono and Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Freddy Numberi, Faizasyah added.
