AKARTA: An independent team assigned to review recent acquisitions by the country's largest coal producer PT Bumi Resources will need two months to decide the appropriateness of the deals.
Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) director Eddy Sugito said on Friday the evaluation process would take time as it would include the inspection of the coal mines to know the real value of the reserves.
"We hope that the team can come up with fairn opinions regarding the acquisition deals by that time," Eddy said.
Bumi acquired three local coal companies - PT Dharma Henwa, PT Fadjar Bumi Sakti and PT Pendopo Energi - for Rp 6.1 trillion in a deal considered to be overpriced. The company always defended the action, saying that the deal had been reviewed by independent auditors.
