Letters: Don't stop accessing technology

I refer to an article titled Indonesian clerics want rules for Facebook."

I do not agree with Muslim clerics wanting to regulate Facebook. I use Facebook as well as other media to make contact with all my old friends wherever they live. I use Facebook to write about my thoughts and feelings. I know all the boundaries.

I am a Muslim. I am living in a world where there are not only Muslims, but also Christians and other people with other religions and beliefs. I am living in a world of sophisticated technologies and I always try very hard to live with the guidance of my religion.

I know what it is good and what it is not. I think it is not appropriate for Muslim clerics to look for a way to regulate Facebook. For me, it is a little bit too much.

At the end, they cannot stop people from using technology. Are they going to stop people watching TV or going to the movie? To tell you the truth, they cannot tell people to stop doing something they want to do.

Again, it depends on the people themselves. Are they going act badly or not? Clerics cannot control those decisions.

Let the Muslims grow among all the good and bad influences in this world. Do not be worried because if they are good Muslims, they will have to control every way they are going to take in their life according to their religion.
