Indah has no regrets about trying singing

JAKARTA: In a move that’s not unusual in the hyperactive celebrity world, catwalk model Indah Kalalo is stepping into the world of music.
Denying that she is not merely following the trend of soap opera stars or models to bang out a few tunes, Indah says she wants to make the most of any opportunities that come her way.
“[Opportunity] won’t knock twice on your door,” says the 29-year-old. “Just so long as I am focused and really try my best…”.
Indah is making her singing debut with the single “Tak Kusesali” (No Regrets), an old song composed by Yongki Suwarno for Sophia Latjuba.
Realizing that she’s launching a whole new career, Indah says she will not set a minimum price on her singing performances.
“When I started modeling, I was willing to be paid a mere Rp 50,000,” she says. “So, for singing I would do the same.”
But having a new playground does not mean that she’s leaving her main profession as a model.
“For me, singing is just on the side. I was often asked to sing during [modeling] shows,” she says. “That’s how I got interested in learning how to sing properly.”
What’s next for Indah, then?
“I am actually into disco music. Maybe next time someone can write me a disco song so I can also dance along.” – JP
