T

he South Korean Embassy will organize a Cultural Week from Oct. 9 to 18, featuring movie, arts and music shows, to celebrate its National Day, which fell on Oct. 3, and Armed Forces Day on Oct. 1.

A performance featuring a wide range of stage acts from a 2,000-year-old royal dance and Korean traditional string instruments, to modern street dance by B-Boys at Balai Kartini, Jakarta, on Oct. 9 will kick off the weeklong celebration.

Besides onstage performances, there will also be a Korean movie show from Oct. 13 to 18 at Blitzmegaplex, Pacific Place, featuring the films Seven Days, Divine Weapon, X-Mas in August and Beyond the Years.

"We will also organize a Korean embroidery exhibition at the National Museum from Oct. 13 to 18," the embassy said Monday in a press conference statement.

"Korean embroidery is made with thick thread to emphasize the texture and is widely recognized for its beautiful colors."

A musical concert on Oct. 15 at the Usmar Ismail Hall will stage classical, folk and jazz repertoires by Korean and Indonesian singers. Performers on stage will include a number of Indonesian songs, including "Bengawan Solo" and "Satu Nusa, Satu Bangsa".

The embassy said it would also hold a Korean agriculture exhibition from Oct. 16 to 18 at Grand Indonesia. Indonesian students in Korea will also be invited to attend a friendship community night on Oct. 13 at the Intercontinental Hotel.
