BALIKPAPAN: The Borneo International Kite Festival, which runs from Feb. 19 to 21 at Segara Manggar Beach in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, will feature participants from 42 countries, according to the organizers.

American Kite Association president David Gomberg said the festival was aiming to break a Guinness record by flying 6,000 kites simultaneously.

"There are teams from 15 countries coming here from February 16," Gomberg said Tuesday at a press conference at the Gran Senyiur Hotel in Balikpapan.

"I'm very excited to be here."

He was accompanied at the press conference by others participants, including Ralf Marserski from the German National Kite Team and Kevin Sanders from the Australian National Kite Team. - JP
