PADANG, West Sumatra: The Lembah Anai tourist resort in West Sumatra was hit by floods and a landslide Tuesday
ADANG, West Sumatra: The Lembah Anai tourist resort in West Sumatra was hit by floods and a landslide Tuesday.
Heavy rains in the area caused the Batang Anai River to burst its banks and wash away part of the highway.
The Batang Anai waterfall in the tourist resort, meanwhile, discharged three times its normal volume of water, carrying with it mud and rocks.
A bridge about 1 kilometer away was severely damaged, leaving cars to squeeze through a narrowed 3-meter lane.
West Sumatra Disaster Mitigation Agency coordinator Ade Edward said landslides had occurred in at least 15 areas.
