IREBON, West Java: The number of people who have died after drinking an alcoholic beverage has risen to 13, with another six reported to have died on Sunday.
The first seven were reported dead on Friday after a number of people joined a drinking spree following a musical concert.
Cirebon Police is investigating the incident and has reportedly arrested two people believed to have sold the drinks. The six people reported dead on Sunday were identified as Sawidi, Kunadi, Supanedi, Wirya, Nanto and Sudrajat.
"The victims bought the drinks at two kiosks. The kiosk owners have been brought in for questioning," police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Sufyan Syarief said.
Police also seized 70 bottles of alcoholic drinks from the kiosks, which they claim were the same brand as consumed by the victims.
The police later launched sweeps looking for illegal alcoholic drinks, netting 15 thousands bottles in the operation. - JP
