I do share the view of various institutions and some psychologists from various universities about the bad impact this video had on young children.
Even children who usually do not care about this topic all of sudden show interest because of what they see on the media about Ariel. Journalists made reports on how schoolchildren were buying the video.
There are specific cases mentioned in the news (not from the Indonesian Child Protection Commission [KPAI] ) about young teenagers sexually abusing young children right after watching the video.
As the boys have been arrested, and will go to court, we will find out if it was related to the video or not.
Ariel did not rape the girl. According to the news, some children who saw the video wanted to do what they saw Ariel doing and the result is, for example, a 14-year-old’s harassment of a 10-year-old girl in East Java. Read the news.
And if you objected to the “rape” I see that the KPAI actually used the
word “harass”, but somehow some media have replaced that word with
“rape”. The government is just doing what they can to protect the
children (and if you want to know my opinion, I think it’s not enough).
There are calls to toughen Internet access.
