JAKARTA: Investors and suppliers of renewable energy technology from around the world will meet at the Renewable Energy Asia Conference and Exhibition 2010 in Bangkok on Sept. 15-18.

“This event will be a good opportunity for the exchange of information on business and investment opportunities in the renewable energy sector between government officials and businesspeople from ASEAN,” Thai Ambassador to Indonesia Thanatip Upatising said Thursday.

Thanatip said given the global concern over climate change and the top priority given by many countries to the development of environmentally friendly energy, there were now great business and investment opportunities in the renewable energy sector.

Michiel Kruse, managing director of UBM Asia (Thailand), which is organizing the conference and exhibition, said the event would also feature an ASEAN investment forum where investors and technology providers could network.

“The whole foundation of Renewable Energy Asia [RE Asia] has been built on facilitating intra-ASEAN trade in renewable energy technology and products and intra-regional investment, as well as wooing investors from outside the region,” Kruse said. — JP
