AKARTA: Jaya Suprana from the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI) awarded the Eka Tjipta Foundation, an NGO under Sinar Mas Group, for granting “the largest number of scholarships for undergraduate students during a certain period”.
“Eka Tjipta Foundation has sincerely presented its best for our nation regardless of groups and religions, contributing to humanity,” Jaya said Friday during a ceremony attended by Deputy Education Minister Fasli Jalal, Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry youth affairs expert Facruddin and Central Jakarta Mayor Sylviana Murni.
During the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 academic years, 2,018 underprivileged students have benefited from the scholarships, which cover tuition fees, living costs, book allowance and student association fees. Currently, these students are studying at 30 universities throughout the country. — JP
