AKASSAR, South Sulawesi: A fire destroyed part of a building in the South Sulawesi governor's office complex in the provincial capital of Makassar on Friday.
The fire destroyed the building's fourth floor, which houses the environment impact control agency and the national unity affairs agency.
"I heard someone shout *Fire!', and I immediately abandoned the building as thick smoke billowed from the fourth floor. Moments later an explosion was heard," said a government employee, Dian Pramana Putra.
On Friday night, fire fighters were still trying to put out the fire, which started at about 3:15 p.m. local time. There was no official statement about the cause of the fire or injuries and fatalities. - JP
