New police chief
Your comments on the nomination of Comr. Gen. Timur Pradopo by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono as the new National Police chief to replace Gen. Bambang Hendarso Danuri.
We do not know what we can expect from the new police chief. But what we do know is what we always have to chose from:
The best of the worst or the least of several evils. It is still okay because the least evil is still much better than those NATOs (no action talk only) and legislators.

We need a fearless person to be chief of the Indonesian police, particularly facing the radical group that always stands behind the religion. Back to the track record of the Jakarta police chief, I am a
pessimist.

Timur Pradopo, Yudhoyono’s personal choice for the next National Police chief, wants to “embrace FPI”. Birds of a feather do flock together. Now we know for certain where Yudhoyon’s sympathies lie.

To me, so long as the police can weed out crime and terrorism the promotion of Timur Pradopo by the President is not a problem.

Of course, we, Indonesians, expect a lot of things from Timur Pradopo. We need a new leader that is firm, commanding, and professional to create a new and great Indonesia.
Now, the Indonesian condition is very bad due to a high rate of crimes. Corruption, collusion and nepotism reign in Indonesia too.
So, we expect the new chief to make a revolution, to renew and create a new Indonesia. We need him to emphasize and enforce the state constitution correctly, without any doubts and exceptions.

National Police chief candidate Timur Pradopo must build a cooperation with all elements in our community to make this country secure and prosperous for the future.
Yudhoyono has put great thought into his consideration of Timur as National Police chief candidate. All we have to do is support it and give our best to Indonesia.

Indonesians are already disappointed with the poor performance of the police. All in all, Indonesians never trust the police’s performance. Mr. President, why didn’t you just let people nominate the National police chief?
