espite their growing popularity, social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube have failed to meet social and cultural values of different countries.
Now not only conservatives but also modern and liberal societies are raising voices against attitudes of these social networking giants.
Only months ago in Britain, a serial killer had 35,000 fans on his Facebook page. Most of them were teenagers who were inspired by the lifestyle and popularity of notorious serial killer.
Despite a personal request from British Prime Minister Gordon Brown Facebook has refused to remove the page of this notorious serial killer.
Only months ago, the death of young girl sparked a country wide protest in Australia. She was trapped in a false friendship on Facebook by notorious killer and lost her life in miserable circumstances.
Publication of controversial material against different religions and cartoon controversy on leading social networking sides also sparked worldwide protest in different countries.
It is a true reality that in the name of freedom of expression and freedom of speech we can’t permit controversial and hated personalities to use the platform of leading social networking sides and play sentiments of billions of people around the world.
Extremist organizations around the world widely use these sites to spread their propaganda machinery and hire new recruits to peruse their hated agenda.
The world community and the UN must prepare tough rules and regulations for leading social networking sides and make sure that no one can use these sides to spread his hated agenda around the world.
