BATAM, Riau: The Batam city administration wants its permanent foreign residents to have ID cards
ATAM, Riau: The Batam city administration wants its permanent foreign residents to have ID cards.
The move was in line with a local bylaw on population administration that has not fully been implemented, according to a local official.
Batam Civil Registration and Population Office chairman Sadri Khairuddin told The Jakarta Post that only eight of 300 expatriates permanently living in Batam had ID cards.
“We’ve disseminated information about this obligation by involving foreign representatives in Batam, including the Singapore Consulate General, the Batam Singapore Club and others, but there has still been no response,” he said. — JP
