he attack on the Ahmadis in Banten fully meets the legal definition of terrorism so when is the government going to invoke their terrorism powers? It was also a clear case of premeditated trespassing and assault and arguably premeditated murder. Premeditated or not, every one of the participants in the bloody attack is an accessory to murder and all should be arrested and charged.

This should not be a case of the bumble-footed police once again “questioning one or two suspects” and then concluding there is not enough evidence. The evidence is right there on the video which now hundreds of thousands have viewed.

Every face shown is identifiable and everyone of those people were taking part in an act of terrorism and murder. Every one of those identifiable in the video should face charges of trespassing, terrorism, assault and being accessory to murder.

This sort of religious fueled insanity should never be allowed to recur in Indonesia and to achieve that the government must take decisive action and that means doing much more than just “interviewing a few suspects”. It must ensure that the full force of the law is applied now.

It must then move on quickly to address the fundamental underlying problem of its highly inappropriate decree relating to the Ahmadiyah. Not withstanding the outcry that will come from the vocal extremists, the government must move to guarantee freedom of religion of all minorities, including the Ahmadiyah.

It is highly inappropriate for what is claimed to be a secular democracy to favor one religion over another. Get back to the Constitution and read it the way it was intended. But above
all, get a rocket under the police and demand that they enforce the law in full, not just when it suits them. Right now you could be excused for believing that the police are complicit in these acts of terrorism.

The government must now realize that the fuse has been lit and it will take decisive action to stop this religious terrorism from escalating.

With the recent attacks on churches in Central Java there are a lot of citizens in RI realizing that their government is not providing any protection for them.
