span class="inline inline-left">AP/Wong MayeTens of thousands of fans will greet teen heartthrob Justin Bieber at his concert in Sentul Bogor Saturday, event organizer Berlian Entertainment said.

The 17-year-old Canadian pop-singer who bewitched millions of young girls worldwide with his song about the end of a first romance, “Baby”, is slated to perform at Sentul International Convention Center Saturday night.

Berlian Entertainment CEO Dino Hamid said that tickets for the concert had sold out.

Around 1,000 security personnel will be deployed to secure the concert, Berlian Entertainment Project Director Marcel Permadhi said. Security will consist of the police, the military as well as private security personnel, Marcel said. Bieber will also bring his own bodyguards, Marcel said. About 100 medical staff and 10 ambulance units will be on stand by during the event.

Dino said that they estimated around 5,000 motorists would come to Sentul on Saturday night for the event. The organizers will provide 10 shuttle buses to transport visitors whose cars are parked far from the Convention Center building.

Bieber’s audience will be minors under the age of 18 so Dino warned parents “not to send their children alone to Sentul”. “Parents should accompany their children to the concert. And they need to buy their own tickets as well,” Dino said.

“There will be around 10,000 people, so don’t let your child go without a chaperone,” he said.

The event organizer said Bieber was scheduled to arrive in Jakarta on Friday, however it did not disclose the exact time due to security reasons.

Bieber’s huge fan base has often cause safety problems. His performances at Long Island mall in the US and a performance for a TV show in Australia, were once canceled due to crowd chaos. When Bieber was in London, the police reportedly did not allow him to exit his hotel room lest he incite a riot.

Saturday’s concert in Sentul is part of Bieber’s My World Tour.

Five event promoters, Asia Sports Development (ASD), Berlian Entertainment (BE), Multivision, Mahkota Promotion and Marygops, collaborated to organize the concert.

Bieber is an example of a modern-day technology-assisted rise to fame. Talent manager Scooter Braun discovered Bieber’s YouTube video in 2008. He took Bieber to meet singer and producer Usher who later signed him with Raymond Braun Media Group (RBMG).

In 2010, Bieber won four American Music Awards, including Artist of the Year. He is believed to be one of the most influential people in social networking — overriding US President Barrack Obama — according to a San Francisco-based social networking index Klout.
