AKARTA: Indonesia and Russia have agreed to support each other in a number of human rights issues at the United Nations after a consultative meeting between senior officials from the two countries in Moscow.
The Indonesian Embassy in Moscow said Friday in a press statement that the meeting had taken place at the headquarters of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Moscow.
The Indonesian delegation was led by Indonesian Foreign Ministry director for human rights and humanity Muhammad Anshor and the Russian delegation by the Russian Foreign Ministry director for international cooperation, Oleg Malguinov.
Anshar said, as cited in the press release, that among rights issues the two countries would likely support each other were those concerning former Soviet republics.
They also shared views regarding review of the UN Human Rights Council and UN human rights treaty bodies, Antara news agency reported. — JP
