JAKARTA: China Airlines has added three more destinations in Asia to SkyTeam’s network after being officially admitted into the world’s second-largest alliance
AKARTA: China Airlines has added three more destinations in Asia to SkyTeam’s network after being officially admitted into the world’s second-largest alliance.
The Taipei-based airline became the 15th airline inducted into the alliance on Sept. 28, marked by a ceremony in Taipei.
China Airlines’ Indonesia country manager, Joe W.T. Chiu, said Wednesday the three new destinations were Surabaya in Indonesia and Miyazaki and Okinawa in Japan.
“We have a strong presence in the Asia Pacific region and the Greater China region complementing with Southern China and Eastern China,” he told a luncheon welcoming China Airlines to SkyTeam in Indonesia.
In addition to Surabaya, the airline also serves Jakarta and Bali, he told The Jakarta Post. “China Airlines flies 14 times a week from Jakarta, seven times a week from Surabaya and 11 times a week from Bali using Airbus A330 aircraft with a two-class arrangement,” he said. “We also have three cargo flights a week from Jakarta to Taipei using a Boeing 747-400 freighter.”
