Putting it briefly: Ceylon, Emerio post victories

AKARTA: Ceylon beat TOPI XI, while Emerio registered its maiden win by beating GMIS XI on Sunday in the cricket Apple Coal JCA League 2011-2012.

At Cibubur, a match winning unbeaten 78 by Gaurav Kapoor lead Ceylon to a five-wicket win over TOPI. This was Ceylon’s fourth victory in five matches and it takes them to the top of the league table with 50 points. Batting first, TOPI made 145/5 in 35 overs. Tim Gutsell, who has been a consistent run scorer for TOPI, made 28 with Kookie making 24 runs. Dihan Silva picked up two wickets. With such a strong batting line up, TOPI’s 145 runs was a below par score for the league front runners, which was evident as Ceylon claimed victory in just 24 overs, losing only five wickets. Kookie and Evan Stead picked up two wickets apiece.

“We are clicking well as a team, and more importantly, we are enjoying our game,” said man of the match Gaurav Kapoor.

At Karawaci, Emerio staged a remarkable fightback against GMIS XI and its bowlers kept their nerves to record their first victory of the season. Emerio did well to score 133 runs after being six wickets down for 79 runs after 24 overs. Santosh’s all-round performance (23 runs at bat and three wickets) was instrumental in the emotional victory.  Kamalesh chipped in with 24 runs. GMIS XI lost their way after the first drinks break. From 43/2 in 12 overs, they slumped to 108 all out. Mohit collected three wickets. Zaim Khan provided the sole resistance with 33 runs.
